The watermelon and the wiggle worm

April 10, 2009 - Leave a Response

Ok, 36 weeks and counting and seriously I feel like I swallowed the biggest watermelon in the patch and that instead of a baby I am growing a 20″ wiggle worm!

My poor baby must be running out of room.  The babies movements have gone from sweet little flutter and movements to painful kicks to the ribs and hips.  Oh, and when it decides to roll, oh man! Can you say “PAINFUL”.

On a better note, I do totally love being pregnant and love motherhood. So onto the reason for this post, my appt was today.  Turns out after all the fuss and worry about having a small baby I am going to give birth to the Joly Green Giant.  Well not really but probably at least a 8-9 pounder.  A far cry from the 5 pound baby boy I had 3 years ago.  Whew!  Glad I get to have a  c-section.

Also, after wishing, praying and begging I finally got to schedule my c-section.  I was a tad disapointed because I really wanted to go at 38 weeks but… No such luck. Oh well, May is a good month it will due just fine.

Take a look at the pic below though, seriously can my belly stretch anymore?!

Tutu’s for girls

April 8, 2009 - Leave a Response

Easy and FUN DIY tutu project.  I mean for real, about 25 min. and you can have one of these done and ready to go.  I made mine for $10 but I had a coupon for 40% off.  I used 3.5 yards of tulle, a long piece of fun ribbon and a on-line tutu tutorial (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ambrosialove/522118984/)

This was so fun and I can’t wait to give the little girlies there fun pink tutu’s.  I mean what little girl doesnt want a tutu? Excuse my crude photography.  I also made a matching hair band for each girl.  All I did for that was use a regular ouchless hair band, cut up some ribbon about4 inches long and tulle and tied it in knots around the rubberband.  Super super easy.

Post happy – hehe

April 8, 2009 - Leave a Response

Ok, so I am a tad on the “post happy” side today!  I had to catch up on all the fun stuff I have been doing!  We finally have the babies room ready and I will post photos of the nursery set I made.  We finally have our hall floor and trim laid!  Whoot Whoot!  I have been waiting for that to be finished for months!  I have been cooking like crazy!  Cinnamon rolls and peanut butter blossoms are the family favorites at the moment and so far I’m not sick of making them yet.

I have to top off becoming a new mom, a friends wedding coming up in June.  Which I have all ready blabbed on.  Coming soon will be her invites I made along with other examples of fun stuff I created with photo shop.

All may be delayed if my little bundle of joy arrives early but I will try to keep up on it all.  We have only a little over 4 weeks left and I am soooo ready.  I do love to be pregnant, especially that I can eat whatever I want.  But I am ready to meet my new little blessing and see the joy in my husbands eyes when his first (my 2nd) arrives in this world.

So other than my constant ramblings and various activities I am just sitting here looking like a swallowed a watermelon, feeling like I have a wiggle worm inside me and eating everything from sour kraut pizza to McDonalds ice cream cones.

There is nothing I love more than being pregnant.  We only have just over 4 weeks left for our next little blessing to arrive.  My very dearest and talented friend took some photos of my bulging belly for us quite a few weeks ago and they turned out better than I could have ever imagined.  She really made me feel beautiful and comfortable.  She totally captured me and I love that!  There are tons more that I am in love with but will spare everyone the endless photo parade.

Pink Polka Dotted Sun dress

April 8, 2009 - Leave a Response

Ok, so I don’t have any girls (yet) but I LOVE to make girl clothes and girlie things.  So I made this cute little dress for one of my adorable nieces.  Its a simplicity pattern I think.  But anyhoo, I can’t wait to see her in it!

Baby Layette set

April 8, 2009 - Leave a Response

My super awesome friend had her baby shower a while back.  I wanted to come up with something original and fun for her gift.  I’m creative after all!  So she is in love with “cowboys” or anything country for that matter, so here is what I came up with.

april-09-015

Ok, so I bought this awesome flannel fabric at JoAnn’s.  I made a cute little pair of pants, appliqued one of the sayings onto a onesie I had on hand. Whipped up a pair of soft soled baby shoes from a pattern I got from stardust shoes and with the left over fabric I made a matching bib.  It totally rocked and she was so way excited!

Ok, so then to top it off, I thought I would try out more applique skills.  I used my box o’ cookie cutters and traced out a cowboy hat a boot on a bandanna I picked up at the 99 cent store and some black felt.  Then I tried my hand at freezer paper art with the coined fraze “Howdy”.  They turned out pretty stellar if I do say so myself.

And just for fun, here is one more picture of just the little soft soled baby shoes I made.  They were my favorite of he whole set.  Super easy too!  Here is the link to the tutorial and pattern http://stardustshoes.blogspot.com/2006/10/cloth-shoe-pattern.html

Pillow Case Dress

February 19, 2009 - Leave a Response

Ok, So my niece is only 3 weeks old if that and I cant stop sewing things for her!  It was so fun to go and pick out all the fabric and patterns.  So here is what I came up with.

This is a pillow case dress by far the easiest thing I have ever sewn.  I made my own ribbon/fabric tie by sewing orange fabric with a zig zag stitch.  I carried the Zig Zag Stitch to the bottom hem to tie it all in.

T-shirt Baby Gown… Take 1

February 13, 2009 - Leave a Response

Ok, So how hard could it be to make a baby gown out of a T-shirt?  Turns out, a little harder than I thought.  So here is my experience and what I would do different next time.

I made it out of the house today and down to my local “Good Will”.  I might note I brought skittles for my sweet little man and he ate in silence the whole time we were there *cheers*. I managed to find some rocking deals plus it was 50% pink tag day, all in all 6 shits for 3 bucks!

I brought my finds home logged onto the This momma makes stuff blog (address noted below) and started my project.  Word of advice, actually print the pattern.  I am a pretty avid sewer and thought I could eye ball it. Nooope!  Bummer, I did end up sewing it all together and it is a totally cute concept.  Except mine will fit a smallish baby doll and not an actual baby. *blush* I guess I have learned my lesson here.

For anyone who is feeling the itch to try something new it is a FUN project!  I had tons of fun making it and they are adorable when completed.  My onlu suggestion… PRINT the Pattern!

So here is the post that has all the info to create one of these beauties. http://thismamamakesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/08/tutorial-t-shirt-to-newborn-gown.html  Her instructions rock, pictures really help and its nice to know someone is this creative out there.

So here is Take one of the T-shirt baby gown.  Stay tuned take two will proceed in the next few days.

Make Your Own Baby Clothes

February 12, 2009 - Leave a Response

Being as we are going to welcome our second little blessing into the world in May, I thought I would start looking into making unique baby clothes.  I started my search through google as most of my searches start.

I found this website:  www.make-your-own-baby-stuff.com  This web site is chalk full of awesome ideas from baby clothes to baby gear.  They have easy directions to follow and have links to other great sites.  I am going to try turning my Hubbies old T-Shirts into Baby gowns as show on this website tutorial http://thismamamakesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/08/tutorial-t-shirt-to-newborn-gown.html.  These are totally funky and look fun to make.

I also stumbled upon how to make your own soft soled baby shoes.  Could they be any cuter!  Check out the Galleries of ones people have all ready made, they totally rock! http://stardustshoes.blogspot.com/2006/10/cloth-shoe-pattern.html. Star dust shoes offers a totally awesome and easy to follow pattern and directions for making them.  I got Stardust info off of the make your own baby stuff website.

If your into baby slings this site http://family-centered.com/needleworks/how-to-make-a-lined-sling/ Has a lined sling patern and directions.

One of by far the coolest ideas I have seen yet Freezer paper stenciling.  There are a ton of DIY sites out there with instruction on how to do this.  I found that http://dana-made-it.blogspot.com/2008/08/tutorial-freezer-paper-stencil-makenna.html Has one of the best set of directions out there, plus pictures.  She also has a ton of other bad ass ideas for re-furbishing clothes, girls and boys clothing ideas.  I will be revisiting her site.

There is a ton of ideas out there, it just takes a little searching to get to them.  I will post pictures of the things I make with the links to the sites that I got the ideas from.  I cant wait!  Although we still don’t know if were having a boy or a girl, I may make a few things for a dear friend of mine having her first baby boy in April.
